Green Ribbon, 2001
Swanston St Melbourne
Funded by Arts Victoria and City of Melbourne
The artwork, in the form of a single line of bright orange text on the outside windows of trams, carried a story in the vein of a detective novel. As it skipped from one tram to the next, it presented snatches of an unfolding drama on the street, incorporating people and places along the way.
The work appeared on 10 green trams, just prior to their phasing out, on routes 16 and 69 which travelled from Melbourne University down Swanston Street and out to Kew via St Kilda.
It coincided with, and was part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. The work was created in collaboration with Graphic designer, Laine Hogarty, Origin Design; former tram conductor, Roberto D’Andrea. actresses, Clare Larmen and Maureen Hartle. writer, Bernie Janssen, grahic company, Frank Guano.
