This artwork brings to life the long history of communications on this site and references the telephone switchboard that would light up, transmitting voices and linking communities together across distances.

​

It pays tribute to the many people who have worked to connect us to each other over time. Installed above a green wall in a newly created park in Darling Street, Balmain. The park came into being after a 10 year campaign by locals to demolish of part of the

building and create an open space.

 

Lights come on and off over a 24 hour period in the manner of the old switchboard as calls came in.
